Hands on Skills

In the Forest Adventures Afterschool Program, children will arrive in the forest with some time to settle in and unplug from the school day before gathering for a quick circle to hear about the afternoon’s adventures.

Over the 4 week session we will create pine needle baskets and other hands-on crafts as well as archery, fire-making, tracking, and shelter building. Activities will vary with the day and the children’s interests. Along the way, they'll build real skills, explore their creativity, and have plenty of time to simply be outdoors.

Parent Reviews

Now in its 6th year, families love Wild Earth Kids - a hands-on, nature-based camp where kids learn real skills and build real confidence.

Through activities like archery, fire making, shelter building, and nature exploration, children develop confidence, independence, form strong friendships, and deepen their connection to the natural world.

At Home in the Wilderness

One of the great things about our programs is the hands-on experience with the natural world, whether catching lizards and insects, or foraging for wild edible plants. Children that experience a Wild Earth Kids program leave feeling more alive and connected, not only to the natural world, but also to themselves.

And we make a special effort to help each child feel included and to help children work out any quarrels that may arise. At Wild Earth Kids, we believe that the emotional development of children, as well as their connection to nature, is just as important as (and fuels) their academic success.
